2020 is definitely going to be a year to remember. We are seeing an unprecedented event in modern history in America and the world with the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.
I have actually been deeply invested in this because I teach English to students in China every morning and evening online. I watched at the end of January and February as they shut down Chinese schools and enforced mandatory social distancing. Since then, I have woken up extra early at 3:30am to teach my students so they have something fun, engaging, and exciting to do while they are home.
I was supposed to go on a once in a lifetime trip TO CHINA IN JUNE! That’s obviously canceled, but I look forward to one day getting the opportunity to travel to China to meet some of my students, their families, visit their beautiful landmarks, and immerse myself in their culture.
I remember thinking, “This will be contained…I can’t go to China now because this is where it is… it won’t come to America.” Well, we are all here now; practicing social distancing, keeping our families indoors and near our houses, most companies have switched to working from home or have shut down, and moms who have never momschooled or homeschooled are now in this crazy, amazing situation.
As an educator and administrator prior to staying home with my three young boys, I love to take my classroom ideas and do “momschooling.” This means teaching my boys who are not in Kindergarten yet the fundamentals and explore the world through fun experiences. Homeschooling without the curriculum!
I shared an easy schedule that I follow every day with my boys. I have seen a lot of homeschooling schedules posted for moms to follow which is amazing! This is a time where we can connect and share like never before. I am excited to see this country-wide collaboration effort to give our children the best family and educational experience during this time.
Please stay healthy and safe.
