Our third son just turned 1! Cue the tears! He is walking, babbling, tackling his older brothers to the ground, and just had his first birthday party! I had some woodland props and decorations from other birthday parties we have thrown so I landed on the Lumberjack “Wild One’ theme!
This party was so much fun to plan for and execute. I wanted to share some ideas I found on Pinterest and that I came up with to throw this party!
DECORATIONS
Cue the adorable woodland, buffalo plaid decorations! I set up a teepee tent for the little ones to play in, black and red streamers in the doorways, campfire logs with fire, the monthly photos above the windows, and some gold one decorations.
‘WOOD YOU LIKE SOME GRUB?”
The food was so easy to cook and cheap to purchase! We set up the following food choices:
- HOT DOG CHILI BAR: We set up chili and sauerkraut in our slow cooker and ketchup, mustard, and a cute sign next to it.
- FOREST VEGGIES: Easy peasy!
- BBQ BAKED BEANS: I just bought some cans from the dollar store and put them in the pot on low for people to spoon out.
- BBQ CHICKEN: This is one of my favorite recipes to cook in my instant pot which I made for the parents. Put 2 lbs of frozen chicken, an 8 oz can of pineapple chunks with the juice, and a container of Honey BBQ sauce in the instant pot for 28 minutes and then quick release for 10!
TIMBER TREATS
The dessert table was so much fun to prepare! Here are a list of treats we made:
- SMORES ON A STICK: I had my husband drill holes in a flat bottomed log and I stuck a marshmallow with chocolate icing and crumbled graham crackers on top on BBQ skewers!
- LOGS: So cute and from the dollar store!
- CUPCAKES: I bought the cupcakes from Sams Club and the cupcake wrappers and cake toppers on Amazon.
- LOG SMASH CAKE: Whole Foods sells small baby cakes for $9! I showed them a picture from Pinterest and they custom made one for no extra charge.
TRAIL MIX BAR
Our guests loved it! We set it up on our bar top and people were able to make a bowl to snack on at the party or take as another party favor! Here’s what we included:
- POPCORN
- LOGS (small pretzel rods)
- BEAR POOP (raisinets)
- RABBIT POOP (bunch a crunch)
- WORMS
- M&Ms
- PEANUTS
WET YOUR WHISKERS
My father in law makes amazing things with wood. He made this pi-rogue that holds drinks for parties. I threw some drinks and ice in the boat, a MOMosa bucket, and a cute sign for the table.
PARTY FAVORS
We had 3 different party favors for the kiddos that came! Two of the favors were available for the kids to play with during the party. I found some cute signs on Pinterest to label the bins of axes and beards.
- “CHOP SOME WOOD AND IT WILL WARM YOU TWICE:” Hobby Lobby has cute kid foam axes for $4 per dozen.
- “A BEARD IS A WARM HUG FOR YOUR FACE:” Hobby Lobby also has adorable beards.
- “MY PARTY WAS S’MORE FUN WITH YOU HERE!:” I placed little Hersey bars, graham crackers, and mini-marshmallows in a party favor bag with a cute sign.
DON’T FORGET THE 1st BIRTHDAY PHOTO SHOOT!
Our friend and neighbor Melissa is an amazing photographer and did these phenomenal photos at a park. I have spent the money for each child to have a 1st birthday photo shoot because this life goes by so quickly!
I hope you throw a lumberjack birthday party too for your little one and have as much fun as I did planning and throwing it!
